Ilustração feita para o disco “PELE DA ALMA” de Fred Andrade com sua sonoridade universal que vai da música erudita ao popular, passando pelo regional, deixando muito evidente o que há de progressivo em sua música.
O mandacaru nesta criação faz uma analogia a uma flor que no Oriente simboliza todo o trabalho da alma humana no processo evolucional que é a “FLOR DE LÓTUS”. Não apenas por sua semelhança. Também. Mas, mais por representar, de certa forma, a cultura nordestina que está enraizada na música de Fred que expressa certa polaridade.
Percebi no mandacaru uma verdadeira expressão do homem pernambucano, contemporâneo, do homem batalhador, do homem que busca sua ascensão. Pois seu corpo rude, bruto de tanto labor, grosseiro como que para suportar o dia inteiro de sol ardente. Espinhoso como quem utiliza de meios naturais para se defender daqueles que o ameaçam. Mas no calar da noite quando tudo se acalma, na sua solidão, toda a sua essência ele(a) deixa desabrochar na sua flor de cor branca e impecável. Que desabrocha apenas na noite, e que, segundo crença popular é anunciadora de que a chuva vem para acalmar o calor.
O mandacaru expressa, simboliza toda essa polaridade da alma, da natureza: Simboliza o homem, por ser bruto, para agüentar o sol (o Sol também simboliza o homem), espinhoso, “fálico”. Mas também representa a mulher com sua delicada flor, branca, que só desabrocha a noite. A noite é a hora em que a lua surge, e a Lua simboliza a mulher. E a mulher é a mãe, a MÃE do mundo. Aquela que dá a LUZ, por meio da “DOR MAIOR”. E “DE JOELHOS’ num “SACRIFICIO PELA FÉ” de gerar mais um ser divino para o laborioso trabalho de viver e progredir.

SKIN OF THE SOUL

Mandacaru in this creation makes an analogy to a flower that in the East all symbolizes the work of the soul human being in the evolucional process that is the “FLOWER OF LÓTUS”. Not only for its similarity, also, but for representing of certain it forms the culture northeastern who is taken root in the music of Fred who express certain polarity.
I perceived in mandacaru a true expression of the pernambucano man, contemporary, of the fighting man, the man whom its ascension searchs. Therefore its body rude, rude of as much work, coarse as that to support the entire day of burning hot sun. Prickly as who it uses of natural ways to defend itself of that they threaten it. But in being silent of the night when everything is calmed, in its solitude, all its essence it () leaves to unclasp in its flower of white and spotless color. That it unclasps only in the night, and that, as popular belief is annunciating of that rain comes to calm the heat.
Mandacaru express, symbolizes all this polarity of the soul, the nature: It symbolizes the man, for being rude, to support prickly, “fálico” the sun ( the Sun also symbolizes the man). But also it represents the woman with its delicate flower, white, that only unclasps the night. The night is the hour where the moon appears, and the Moon symbolizes the woman. E the woman is the mother, the MOTHER of the world. That one that of the a LIGHT, by means of “BIGGER PAIN”. E “OF KNEES' in a “SACRIFICE FOR the FAITH” to generate plus a being the holy ghost for the laborious work of living and progressing.
